A cheerful Swiss travel poster promoting Arosa, with a large smiling yellow sun above an oversized blue-and-white snowflake. Bright, loosely painted shapes stand out against a dark background, while colourful Arosa lettering connects the two images.
The sun and snowflake suggest the resort’s appeal throughout the year: summer sunshine and winter snow. It is a simple, memorable design with strong decorative appeal for a ski chalet, holiday home or colourful interior.
Arosa originally developed as a mountain health resort. After the Second World War, growing demand for winter sports helped transform former sanatoriums into hotels—a useful historical setting for this sunny winter imagery.

Arosa is a charming Swiss alpine resort celebrated for its sunny, snow-reliable slopes and family-friendly atmosphere. This bold travel poster highlights that perfect winter combination with striking artwork, pairing a bright, smiling sun directly above a detailed blue snowflake against a dark backdrop to symbolize Arosa’s famous blend of abundant sunshine and crisp snow.

Wolfgang Hausamann (1914–1994) was an artist and graphic designer whose work included advertising for Swiss mountain resorts. Here, he uses expressive brushwork and two instantly recognisable symbols to advertise Arosa without showing a conventional mountain view. The smiling sun gives the poster warmth and personality, while the large snow crystal makes its winter-holiday message clear.

Because of the age of these posters, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years are part of the vintage charm.

When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.

These posters are sent as unframed. They will be delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
