Before tablets, projectors and even books, French school teachers used to use these posters to teach children all the areas of education - mainly in history, science and technical drawings. These drawings are from the technical home engineering set.
These are by Rossignol, in Montmorillon in the commune of Vienne in France. They are school posters are a series of posters from the 1950s and 1960s to guide French students about coal based cooking and heating in the kitchen, and the layout of the central heating system in a home.
Dimensions: 29.5 in x 35.4 in (75 cm x 90 cm)
13 - Poeles et cuisiniers a charbon (coal stoves and cookers)
14 - Le chauffage central (central heating)
Because of the age of these posters, and their use in the classroom, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years in the classroom are part of the vintage charm.
This would be a great piece of wall art for an home heating or engineering firm.
When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.
These posters are sent as unframed - the wooden frame is not included. They will be rolled up and delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
