Before tablets, projectors and even books, French school teachers used to use these posters to teach children all the areas of education - mainly in history, science and technical drawings. This one is from the historical series.

These Rossignol French school posters are a series of posters from the 1950s and 1960s to guide French students through the siege and blockade of La Rochelle in 1627 to 1628, then on the other side is the misery caused by the Fronde Civil War in 1648 - 1653, where the King eventually routed the rebel nobles.

This would be a great piece of interior design to bring the action of a British naval blockade of the French when Britannia ruled the waves, or on the reverse side, to reflect a stark and darker mood of the suffering of the populace when war comes.

Because of the age of these posters, and their use in the classroom, there are areas of wear and tear, particularly on the edges. I have done my best to take photos where they are torn or stained. The good news is that when framed, the tears press up well against glass, and edges can be hidden by mats. Any wear picked up from years in the classroom are part of the vintage charm.

When framed these colourful and detailed posters, with vibrant colours can become a centre piece for any room, to remind us of a simpler time.

These posters are sent as unframed - the wooden frame is not included. They will be rolled up and delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
