This poster is from from a 2001 collection of Tolkien posters from John Howe who is one of the leading artists in Tolkien artwork. The Bridge of Khazad-dum, also known as Durin's Bridge, traversed an enormous delved pit of Khazad-dum in Moria. The Bridge was located nearby the East-gate of Moria, fifty feet long, narrow with no railing, and curved slightly upward at the center. It was an ancient defense against any enemy who might get past the East-gate of Moria and capture the First Hall and outer passages; walkers on the bridge could only cross it in single-file.

John Howe is best-known for his artwork of J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. Howe and Tolkien artist Alan Lee served as chief conceptual designers for Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. Howe illustrated the Lord of the Rings board game created by Reiner Knizia, and re-illustrated the maps of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion in 1996–2003.
For The Hobbit films, original director Guillermo del Toro and replacement director Peter Jackson consulted with both Howe and fellow conceptual artist Alan Lee to ensure continuity of design.
